The proliferation of vending machines, arcade machines and other coin-operated devices, most of which dispensed goods or services worth more than a quarter dollar (the highest denomination coin in general circulation at the time) prompted a call for a convenient coin of high value. This copper-nickel clad coin is the first U.S. Small-size dollar coin. Anthony Dollars were issued 1979-1981 and a final time in 1999. The obverse of the Susan B. Anthony Dollar depicts the pioneer of women's rights. The reverse honors the 1969 lunar landing. Engraver Frank Gasparro designed the Susan B. Anthony Dollars. Find the current Susan B.
